Cut of tendon

A tendon laceration or a tendon injury require surgery within a period of up to 3 weeks. A tendon incision can be caused by a knife, glass, saw or any sharp object penetrating the skin. It is useful to perform a tendon incision repair in any case where the tendon injury has a functional significance. Repair of the tendon can be done using the famous stitch invented by Professor Isidor Kessler, a famous hand surgeon from Israel, who served as director of the hand surgery department at Kaplan Hospital. The suture that Professor Kessler invented is a unique stitch that slides and locks the tendon ends in one action. This stitch has led to a revolution in the approach to tendon suturing in the world and is one of the most widely used in the world and in Israel today. You can read about it in an article we published in the Israeli Journal of the IMAJ.
